In Memoriam – Joe Vasta

Joseph Vasta, a former member of the Lincoln Hills Italian Club, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021, with his beloved wife, Pennie, by his side. Joe passed away in Arizona, four months after a serious diagnosis. Although he always looked like a tough guy outside, Joe was a true softy on the inside.

Pennie was a member of the Activities Committee and although Joe was not, he was an active and willing volunteer for the events the Club sponsored—including barbequing 110 Italian sausages on a 106o Lincoln summer day and taking on the role of a police officer in a Club play during the Great Gatsby event.

Joe served as a police officer in New York and eventually retired from law enforcement in San Jose. He and Pennie lived in several Del Webb communities in the U.S. before settling in Lincoln Hills. In 2019 they made a decision to move to another Del Webb community—Corte Belle—near Surprise, AZ, where he passed away.
